Our Story
From a family kitchen in Florence to a celebrated table in New York — the journey of Chef Marco Bellini and La Tavola.
A Passion Born in Florence
La Tavola was founded in 2010 by Chef Marco Bellini, who left his position at a two-Michelin-starred restaurant in Florence to bring the soul of Italian cucina to New York City. His vision was simple: to cook with the same love, patience, and seasonal ingredients his grandmother taught him.
Over 15 years, La Tavola has earned recognition from the Michelin Guide, Zagat, and the James Beard Foundation — yet Chef Marco remains most proud of the guests who return, year after year, to celebrate life's most meaningful moments at his table.
Today, we serve over 100 guests nightly, source from a network of trusted farms and Italian importers, and host some of the city's most intimate private dinners — all guided by the belief that extraordinary food is, at its heart, an act of love.
What We Stand For
Quality First
We never compromise. Every ingredient is hand-selected — from the imported 00 flour in our pasta to the aged DOP Parmigiano-Reggiano that crowns our risotto.
Farm-to-Table
We build long-term relationships with local farmers and Italian producers. Seasonality guides our menu — you'll taste the difference that fresh, ethical sourcing makes.
Italian Heritage
Our recipes honor centuries of Italian culinary tradition. We celebrate regional diversity — from Piedmont to Sicily — keeping the essence of la vera cucina italiana alive.
The Artisans Behind La Tavola
Trained in Florence and Modena, Marco spent 12 years in Michelin-starred kitchens before opening La Tavola. A James Beard nominee, he cooks with the precision of a technician and the soul of a nonna.
Certified by the Court of Master Sommeliers, Elena has curated La Tavola's 200+ label wine program for a decade. Her pairings transform good meals into extraordinary memories.
Apprenticed under a renowned pastry master in Bologna, Lucia creates dolci that are as beautiful as they are delicious. Her tiramisù alone has brought guests back for over a decade.

What Our Guests Are Saying
Rated 4.9 stars from 1,800+ verified reviews across Google, OpenTable, and TripAdvisor.
"An absolute triumph of Italian cuisine. The Ossobuco alla Milanese was the finest I've tasted outside of Milan — the gremolata was transcendent. Elena's wine pairing was simply inspired."
"We celebrated our 10th anniversary in the private dining room and every detail was perfect. Chef Marco personally came out to greet us. We left feeling like the most important people in New York."
"The cooking class was one of the best experiences I've had in New York. Marco is generous, funny, and his pasta technique is extraordinary. I actually made the tagliatelle at home and my family was stunned."
"I've taken clients here a dozen times and it has never once let me down. The private dining room is sophisticated without being stuffy, and the service is flawless. My go-to for impressing important guests."
"Lucia's tiramisù changed my life. I'm only slightly exaggerating. The mascarpone is impossibly light, the espresso is deep and complex, and the portion is generous. I dream about it."
"Exceptional food and service — La Tavola earns every star. Our only note is that weekend evenings can be lively, which we loved, but if you prefer silence, book a Tuesday. Either way, the food is absolutely worth it."
